Core Technology:



The Core Tech group is the central technology organization (headed by the CTO) that is responsible for enabling and governing excellent technology across . As part of this function, we provide oversight for all technology projects to ensure excellent planning, design, execution and delivery; provide enterprise-level development resources for shared applications and services; and are responsible for advising 's management about the technology landscape. We provide oversight in various forms - from program/project management oversight to development and quality assurance to general architectural guidance. Within Core Tech the Common Technology Asset group's primary role is to provide common software components (core libraries, frameworks, services, etc.) to other technology groups, and to serve as the center-of-excellence for shared platform across . The Common Technology Assets (CTA) group within the Core Tech group is charged with planning, building and operating a common technology services environment/platform for various departments. The SharePoint CTA Services team is responsible for architecting, building and operating SharePoint environments for various departments throughout the company; and maintaining the common SharePoint technology environment in a constantly healthy state.



Position Summary:



The SharePoint CTA Solutions Architect is responsible for hands-on technical leadership and delivery for our common SharePoint technology platforms. The individual will ensure that SharePoint installations are managed excellently to enable business tech groups to be more agile and focus on their core business problems and reduce systematic risks. The ideal candidate will be able to interact with a wide array of stakeholders inclusive of business and technology management in addition to a large, user-base who demand excellent service. He / She will be required to put together a technology strategy and governance structure to ensure agile, efficient and secure provisioning of SharePoint based solutions throughout the firm. Ideally, the candidate would present with past experience of starting a similar capability where one did not exist, the ability to operate in a fast moving entrepreneurial environment and be able to devise creative solutions to complex management and technology situations. The ideal candidate will also be self-driven and continuously and open-mindedly explore what can go better. The right candidate for this position will:



- Define, adhere to and continuously improve service levels to build and operate SharePoint and SharePoint based solutions.

- Ensure SharePoint is well positioned to enable our clients to be more agile and enhance collaboration-based activities


- Ensure SharePoint installations are managed at appropriate risk levels (e.g., availability, recoverability, performance, capacity, security, and key man risks)


- Improved service levels to build and operate SharePoint and SharePoint based solutions.

Responsibilities would include:

- The SharePoint CTA Solutions Architect working with the team is responsible for: o Designing, constructing, and operating a shared SharePoint "Platform-as-a-Service".

o Manage and fulfill demand for new SharePoint solutions, as required.


o Delivery of the Service Catalog definition for the SharePoint product which includes the development of product fact sheets and key service level metrics.

o Ensure the SharePoint fleet is maintained according to defined SLA's.



o Performing maintenance; Diagnosing incidents and resolving the root causes through problem management

- Continuously improving common SharePoint technology asset capabilities by: o Build approach for extending this service to other areas of the organization.

o Improving existing service levels and processes

o Understand the technology landscape, be able to chart a technical roadmap

- Ensure service meets demands in an optimized manner o Ongoing collation, consideration and validation of significant inputs from business stakeholders, business technologists, vendors, engineers and architects.

o Ensuring the security of the environment by balance between administrative access control and responsiveness.

o Creation and implementation of a governance model


The SharePoint CTA Solutions Architect will report to the SharePoint CTA Service Manager. In the first year, we expect the SharePoint CTA Solutions Architect to be a key hands-on technologist contributing to the planning, building and operations of the SharePoint environment under a service model paradigm, help devise a sensible consolidation plan and gain team confidence that he/she can successfully execute to that plan. This includes immediately understanding current state, developing a vision for target state and beginning to design and deliver solutions that will get us there.

Position Requirements:
We are looking for a person who:

- Has 5-7 years of experience in SharePoint service management, development and operations for multiple constituents with competing priorities.


- Has 5+ years of experience in IT Operations / Production Management roles



- Has hands-on experience with creation of service-model and technology governance standards and practices.



- Is highly proficient with SharePoint 2003 and MOSS 2007 / 2010 and associated components inclusive of Search.



- Has a high familiarity with related technologies (e.g. Active Directory, SQL Server, SSRS, 3rd party plug-ins and web parts and migration tools)


Preferred candidates would also meet the following criteria:



- Experience in an enterprise technology environment; familiar with ITIL, CMMI, MOF or equivalent standards and practices.



- Hands-on technical depth - grew through advancement from technical to a lead role



- Strong presence and proven ability to operate in a multi-departmental, federated organization
